On the Wedding Day & The Experience
How would you describe the experience of working with you? Warm, calm, and completely stress-free. We guide you through the day so you never have to wonder what's next, and we keep the energy light and fun. Couples often tell us it felt less like hiring photographers and more like having two trusted, experienced friends by their side - friends who happen to be quietly making sure everything runs perfectly.
Will you help with my wedding timeline? Yes. We typically follow your wedding planner's timeline and work hand-in-hand with them, and we're always glad to offer recommendations. We also build a dedicated photography timeline around your schedule, the logistics, the light, and what matters most to you - so the day flows naturally and there's room for the moments you care about.
Do you scout the venue beforehand? We do, and it's one of the things that sets us apart. We scout your venue the week of the wedding to learn the best spots and the best light, so on the day we move with purpose instead of wandering around looking for locations. It saves you time and gives you more of your own day back.
What happens if something goes wrong on the wedding day? We make sure your day is a success no matter what. Weddings rarely go perfectly to plan, and our experience means we stay calm, adapt quickly, and keep things moving. Whatever happens, our job is to protect your experience and your photographs.
How do you handle bad weather? We adapt. Our venue scouting includes backup locations and lighting plans, and we've created beautiful images in different weather conditions. We've even extended shoots or rearranged timelines around weather to get couples the photos they dreamed of.
Will you give us posing direction? Yes - and our style is guided, not stiff. As a husband-and-wife team, we can actually show you what to do: how to stand, where to put your hands, how to move together, even how to kiss for the camera. We gently guide you into natural, flattering moments and bring out the best in each person, so nothing feels posed or awkward. Our photojournalistic eye then fills the rest of the gallery with unscripted, in-between moments.
Are you good with shy couples or people who don't like being photographed? Many of our couples tell us they were nervous at first and quickly forgot we were even there. We're warm and personable, we give easy, guided direction, and we know how to help you relax and look natural rather than posed and stiff. In fact, most of our online reviews mention exactly this - how at ease we made the couple feel and how naturally we guided them in front of the camera.
My fiancé doesn't like being in front of the camera and won't know what to do - can you help? Absolutely - this is genuinely one of our specialties. Almost every wedding has a partner, often the groom, who's unsure what to do or nervous about being photographed. Albert and Liliya are especially good at putting people at ease: we show you exactly what to do, guide you step by step, and keep it relaxed and even fun. Time and again, the very person who dreaded the camera ends up loving how we made them feel and how the photos turned out. If you're looking for a wedding photographer who's great with a camera-shy partner, this is exactly what we do best.
How do you handle family photos, and what if there are family dynamics to consider? We're intentional about family portraits and always make sure you come away with a strong, well-rounded selection. Our experience means we run family groupings efficiently so it never drags and you get back to celebrating. If there are any family dynamics we should know about - sensitive relationships, anyone best kept apart - we truly appreciate a heads-up beforehand so we can handle everything gracefully and discreetly.
Will you photograph our guests too, or just the couple? Both, and we're intentional about it. Our primary focus is you as a couple and your families, but we deeply value your guests. People travel from near and far to celebrate with you, and we understand how much that means - so we make sure your guests are captured throughout the day. Many photographers spend 95% of their attention on the couple alone; we make a point of being intentional with your family and guests as well, so your gallery tells the whole story of the day.
Do you photograph indoor weddings, and how do you handle tricky lighting? Yes. We're skilled with off-camera flash and we arrive at every wedding fully equipped, no matter the setting. Even when a day is planned outdoors, we always come prepared with our flashes - so if the weather turns or we need to move indoors quickly, we can shift to a new environment fast without missing a beat or sacrificing image quality.
Can you do a first look? Yes, and we often recommend one. A first look gives you a private, emotional moment together and frees up your timeline, so you can actually enjoy cocktail hour and time with your guests instead of being away for portraits. That said, it's entirely your choice, and we'll help you decide what suits your day.
How do you coordinate with our other vendors? Beautifully. We see every vendor - planner, videographer, venue team - as one team working for you, the couple. We're professionals who collaborate openly and keep things moving, because a smooth, well-run day is what makes your celebration a success. Good vendors love working alongside us, and we love working alongside them.
Will you be the actual photographers, or will you send someone else? You're booking Chernogorov Photography, and we personally photograph your wedding - we never hand your day off to a stranger. Most of the time both of us shoot together; depending on the date, it may be one of us leading alongside a trusted, seasoned member of our team. Either way, you get our signature style, experience, and care from start to finish.
What's the advantage of hiring a husband-and-wife team? It's one of our biggest advantages. Because we're a couple ourselves, we can demonstrate rather than just describe - we show you how to pose, what to do with your hands, how to move together, even how to kiss for the camera. We work in sync, anticipate each other, and cover the day from two perspectives at once. It also brings a warm, easygoing energy that helps you relax and genuinely enjoy the experience.
Do you need a meal at the wedding? Honestly, it's not something we like to make a fuss about. For a full day of eight hours or more, a vendor meal is appreciated so we can stay fueled through the night - but for shorter coverage we don't expect one, and we're always grateful either way. We keep it easy and never make it an issue.
Do you take breaks during the day? We stay fully immersed in your day from start to finish - focused, attentive, and making sure every moment is covered. We're always watching for what's about to happen so nothing slips by.
What do you wear to weddings? We dress the part - suits and proper shoes. We're honored to be your chosen photographers, and we show that respect in how we present ourselves, while staying mobile enough to capture everything.
Your Photos & Delivery
How many photos will we receive? We don't cap the number of images. On average we deliver 100-200 edited images per hour of coverage, often more, depending on the event. You receive every image worth keeping.
When will we receive our photos? You'll get a sneak-peek highlight gallery of 100+ beautifully edited images within about a week of your wedding, so you can relive the day and start sharing favorites right away. Your complete, hand-edited gallery follows in roughly 12 to 15 weeks - we take the time to edit every image to our signature look rather than rush it.
How do you deliver the photos? Through a secure, private online gallery that's simple to view, download in high resolution, and share with family and friends. No USB to lose, no complicated downloads.
Do we get printing rights to our photos? Yes. Your edited high-resolution images come with personal printing rights, so you can order prints, make albums, and share freely. We do offer prints through our system, but this rights will give you permission to print your images elsewhere.
Are the images edited, and will they look consistent? Yes. Every delivered image is hand-edited to our signature timeless look. Cohesion is very important to us even when shooting with different cameras, lenses and shooters - the whole gallery is toned consistently and feels like one beautiful, elegant story.
Do you deliver RAW or unedited files? We deliver our finished, hand-edited images - that polished, cohesive look is a core part of what you're hiring us for. We don't release RAW or unedited files.
Can we share our gallery with family and friends? Yes, easily. Your secure online gallery is built for sharing and downloading, so loved ones can view and order their own favorites.
How long will our online gallery stay available? Your gallery stays online for a full year. If you'd like more time, it can easily be extended right through the gallery itself. We still recommend downloading and backing up your images soon after delivery, so you always have your own copy saved safely.
Do you photograph in color or black and white? Primarily color, toned to our signature refined aesthetic. We also include thoughtfully chosen black-and-white images where they elevate a moment.
Do we need to give you a shot list? Generally, no - we don't want to add homework to your plate. From experience, we know what to capture: the details, the portraits, the family, and every wedding-party combination. If you'd love to share a shot list or a few must-haves inspiration images, we're always happy to see them - but please don't stress over it.
Can we see a full wedding gallery, not just highlights? Absolutely. We're always happy to show full galleries, not just highlights. During our consultation call we talk through your wedding day and share complete galleries from similar weddings, so you can see exactly how we cover a day from start to finish.
Our Style & Approach
What is your photography style? Elevated, editorial, candid, and natural - with a cinematic, photojournalistic feel and a refined European sensibility. We love genuine, candid moments, and when we do pose, our approach is guided rather than stiff: we gently direct you into flattering, natural positions and bring out the best in each person. Our style is keeping skin tones true and colors honest, so your images are well-exposed, sharp, and crisp - and still feel timeless decades from now. Trends come and go; beautifully exposed, true-to-color photographs last forever.
Are your photos posed or candid? Both, balanced thoughtfully. We give gentle, guided direction for flattering portraits, then step back to capture the honest, in-between moments - the laughter, the tears, the spontaneous joy - that make a gallery feel alive.
Do you shoot film or digital? We shoot primarily digital, and film is in our DNA. We shot medium-format film for years and still shoot film from time to time when a moment calls for it - though film is less predictable, so we let it be a happy bonus rather than something we lock in. Our entire digital style is deeply influenced by film: we've trained our eyes to reproduce the tones and softness film is loved for, so you get that timeless film aesthetic with the reliability of digital. When we do shoot some film on your day, it comes back as part of your gallery at no separate charge.
Why does a film-inspired look matter? Film has a timeless, organic quality - soft tones, natural color, and a richness that isn't tied to any one era. We've trained our eyes to recreate those colors and that feel in our digital work, while still loving and occasionally shooting real film. The result is imagery crafted to look beautiful for decades, not just this year.
Will my photos look natural and not over-edited? Yes. Our editing is timeless and restrained - true-to-life color and natural skin tones, elegant contrast, nothing trendy or heavy-handed. Most of all, our images feel alive, full of real emotion and energy, and they'll still look beautiful in twenty years.
What camera equipment do you use? We work with the best professional photography equipment on the market. It's a big part of why our images come out so crisp and sharp while keeping that soft, dreamy, timeless look. Top-tier gear paired with our experience is what lets us deliver our signature quality in any setting.
What makes your photography different from other photographers? Several things. We're a husband-and-wife team, so more often than not you have two experienced photographers working in sync rather than a lead and a junior assistant. We bring European training and a photojournalistic, cinematic eye. We scout your venue the week of the wedding, so we already know the best light and spots and never waste your time. We plan meticulously and stay calm when things change. Our editing stays true-to-color and timeless instead of trend-driven. And above all, we're warm, personable people who treat your wedding's success as our own responsibility.
Do you photograph diverse cultures and traditions? Yes. We've photographed many cultures and traditions across Europe and the U.S., including Jewish, Indian and Pakistani, Persian, and Asian weddings such as Japanese, Korean, and Chinese celebrations. We take the time to understand the meaningful moments of your traditions so we capture them with the respect and attention they deserve.
What's your experience and background? Albert has been a professional photographer since 2008, with about a decade photographing high-end clients across Europe before moving to the U.S. Albert and Liliya have been photographing weddings together since 2017, with more than 400 weddings between them - most of them here in the United States.
What inspires your aesthetic? Our European roots and Albert's years photographing across Europe shaped an aesthetic rooted in elegance, restraint, and timeless beauty. Liliya's passion for fashion and design brings a strong editorial sensibility to how we compose and style our images. Albert's background in fast-moving environments - world competitions, sporting events, and large stage productions - trained him to read a room and adapt instantly to any setting. Together it gives us a photojournalist's instinct for real, fleeting moments paired with a refined, fashion-aware eye.
Locations, Travel & Destinations
Where are you based? We live and work between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, spending time in both locations throughout the year - so we're local to two of the most popular wedding regions in the country.
What areas do you serve? Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and all of California, plus Las Vegas - and destinations worldwide. We regularly photograph weddings up and down the California coast and across the U.S.
Do you photograph weddings in Santa Barbara? Yes. Santa Barbara and the surrounding wine country are among our favorite places to shoot - the light, the coastline, and the venues are stunning, and we know how to make the most of them.
Do you shoot weddings in Los Angeles? Yes. Los Angeles is one of our home bases - we live part of the year in Los Angeles - so we know its venues, neighborhoods, and light intimately.
Do you photograph Las Vegas weddings and elopements? Yes. Las Vegas is our second home base. From luxury resort weddings to intimate desert elopements, we love shooting in and around Vegas year-round.
Do you travel for destination weddings? Yes, worldwide. From across California to Las Vegas, Miami, the East Coast, and internationally to places like France and Italy, we travel to wherever your celebration takes place.
How do travel fees work? Travel within our home regions of Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Las Vegas is straightforward. For weddings farther out, we include a reasonable travel fee - for example, an East Coast wedding typically covers flights and a couple of nights' accommodation. We always lay travel out clearly in your proposal, so there are never any surprises.
Have you photographed international weddings? Yes. With about a decade photographing across Europe and many destination weddings since, we're experienced and comfortable traveling and shooting internationally, including France and Italy.
Can you recommend venues or help us plan a destination wedding? We're happy to share insight from the many venues and destinations we've worked at, and to connect you with trusted vendors. Our planning and venue scouting carry over to destination weddings too.
Why Couples Choose Chernogorov
Why should we choose you over other photographers? You're hiring two seasoned photographers with European training, a photojournalistic eye, and meticulous planning, plus a genuinely warm, personable approach. All of the recognitions, the experience and the high quality of photographs is something that speaks for itself. We scout your venue the week of, build a solid day-of plan, and treat the success of your wedding as our personal responsibility. We strive to provide excellent service to each and every event. Few studios bring all of that together.
What are your five best qualities as photographers? First, experience and craft - a career dating to 2008 and hundreds of weddings behind us. Second, the timeless, true-to-color quality of our images. Third, how intentional we are: we scout your venue the week of and arrive with a clear plan, so we never waste your time. Fourth, our reliability - we make sure your day is a success no matter what comes up. And fifth, we genuinely love people and know how to make everyone feel comfortable; Albert is the one cracking jokes and getting the room laughing, even while we're quietly making sure everything runs smoothly.
Are you better than other high-end luxury wedding photographers in LA and Santa Barbara? We let our work, our experience, and our couples speak for us. What we offer that many don't: a husband-and-wife team rather than a lead and an assistant, week-of venue scouting, a calm and meticulous approach to the day, and a portfolio featured in both print and online publications. For the right couple, we're an exceptional fit.
Have you been published or featured anywhere? Yes - in print and online. Our work has appeared in print magazines as well as publications such as Brides, Carats and Cake, Inside Weddings, Galia Lahav, PhotoVogue, Style Me Pretty, WIPA, 100 Layer Cake, Loverly, and Maharani Weddings, among others.
Have you photographed any well-known clients? We've been trusted to photograph a range of clients, including names such as Matthew McConaughey, Cole Hauser, Nelly, Maxx Crosby, Lazar Angelov, and Bryce Menzies, among others. We bring the same care and discretion to every couple, well-known or not.
What do your past couples say about you? Couples consistently describe our work as stunning and timeless, and describe us as professional, organized, warm, and easy to be around. They often mention our sense of humor and how comfortable we made them feel - and many tell us they ended up feeling like they'd made real friends, and that booking us was one of the best decisions of their wedding.
Booking, Consultation & Policies
How do we book you? The easiest way to start is to fill out the contact form on our website. We'll get back to you, set up a consultation virtual call, and from there curate a custom proposal built around your day.
What happens on the consultation call? It's a relaxed, roughly 30-minute virtual call where we get to know each other, hear all about your wedding, and answer any questions you have. It also helps us both make sure we're the right fit. During the call we're happy to share full galleries from similar weddings, and afterward we put together a customized proposal tailored to your day.
How far in advance should we book? There's no minimum lead time, but earlier is better - booking early lets you secure your dream vendors, including us, before dates fill. We take a limited number of weddings each year, so popular dates go quickly.
Do you have our date available? The best way to find out is to reach out with your date - we'll let you know right away. Because we limit how many weddings we take, we recommend checking sooner rather than later.
How many weddings do you take per year? We intentionally keep it to around 15 weddings a year. Taking the work seriously means not overbooking, so each couple gets our full attention, energy, and planning.
Do you require a contract? Yes. A signed agreement protects both you and us, clearly laying out coverage, deliverables, and expectations so everyone's on the same page.
Do you carry liability insurance? Yes, we carry limited liability insurance and provide a certificate for your specific venue ahead of the wedding - many venues require this, and we handle it for you.
How do you back up our photos so they're not lost? We build redundancy into everything. Each of us shoots on two cameras, and every camera records to two memory cards simultaneously, so your images exist in multiple copies from the moment they're taken. After the wedding, we copy your images onto a NAS device with four hard drives, plus a separate external drive and an offline drive, and we upload everything to two cloud servers. Your photos live in several places at once, protected against any single point of failure.
What happens if a camera fails during the wedding? We always shoot with multiple professional cameras and bring backup gear, so a single equipment failure never puts your coverage at risk. Redundancy is a core part of how we work.
What if one of you gets sick or can't make it? We take this seriously and plan for it. We've been in the business a long time and have a trusted team of professional photographers who work alongside us. In the rare event that something happens to one of us, that trusted team is ready to step in so your wedding is always fully covered.
What is your cancellation policy? If a wedding is cancelled, the retainer is retained, as it reserved your date and the time we held for you. Every situation is different, though, so we encourage you to reach out and talk with us directly.
Can we reschedule our wedding date? We understand that life happens. Rescheduling is handled on a case-by-case basis and depends on our availability for your new date. The best step is to reach out as early as possible so we can talk through the options together.
Coverage & Your Team
How many hours of coverage should we book? Most of our couples book 8 to 10 hours, which comfortably covers getting ready through the main moments of the reception. We generally recommend starting around 8 hours, though the right amount really depends on your day - intimate weddings may need less, and large or multi-event celebrations can call for 12 to 14 hours or more. We'll recommend the right coverage once we know your timeline.
Can we add more hours later? Yes. If your timeline grows or you'd like coverage to run later into the night, we can adjust your collection. We'd rather plan generously than have you miss a moment.
How many photographers will be at our wedding? Most often, both of us photograph your wedding together - two experienced photographers working in sync, rather than a lead and a junior assistant. Depending on the date, it may be one of us leading alongside a trusted, seasoned member of our team. For larger weddings we scale up - sometimes a team of four for 350+ guests - whatever it takes to make your wedding a success. We'll always be clear about who's covering your day.
Do you use a drone? When the location and conditions allow, we use drone coverage for sweeping aerial perspectives of your venue and celebration. We can't promise it for every wedding - it depends on the setting and local rules - but we love adding it when we can.
Do you offer videography? We specialize in photography and pour all of our focus into being exceptional at it. For video, we have strong relationships with excellent videographers who specialize specifically in film - we're happy to connect you with vendors whose work pairs beautifully with ours.
Pricing, Packages & Add-Ons
How much does a Chernogorov wedding cost? Every wedding is different, so we build a custom proposal for each couple - but to give you a sense, most couples invest between $6,000 and $12,000 for full wedding coverage. The final number depends on your hours, the size and scale of your day, and any add-ons like an album or an engagement session. We tailor it precisely to what your day needs, rather than charging for things you don't.
What's your starting price? Our coverage starts with elopements and intimate celebrations at $4,000. From there, full weddings are quoted custom, based on your specific day.
Why do you create a custom quote instead of listing fixed packages? We've found that fixed, one-size-fits-all packages either overcharge couples for coverage they don't need or leave bigger weddings under-served. After a conversation about your guest count, venue, and timeline, we curate a proposal built specifically for your day. It's the fairest way to price luxury photography.
How much is an elopement or small wedding? Elopements and intimate weddings start at $4,000, and they're some of our favorite days to shoot. We scale the experience and the investment to match an intimate celebration.
Are you expensive compared to other wedding photographers? We're high-end wedding photographers with a lot of experience behind us, and our pricing reflects that. We're not the cheapest, but we're not the most expensive either - we're reasonable, and we genuinely love what we do. Couples choose us because they connect with our style and our work, and because of how our consultation call feels. That call goes both ways: it's where we make sure our vibe and your expectations are a great match, so the couples who book us already feel a real connection with us before the wedding ever happens.
Are you worth the investment? Your photographs are the one thing from your wedding that lasts forever. They're how you'll remember the faces, the feelings, and the people who were there. We pour experience, careful planning, and real care into making those images extraordinary, and we craft them to stay timeless for decades. For couples who value that, it's an easy yes.
What's included? Every collection includes professional coverage on your wedding day, a private online gallery of high-resolution, hand-edited images with printing rights, and a sneak-peek highlight gallery within about a week. It also includes all the planning and venue scouting we do for every couple. Your specific hours and any add-ons are tailored in your custom proposal.
Are there any hidden fees? No hidden fees. Everything is laid out clearly in your proposal, including any travel fee. The only optional extras are add-ons you choose - like an album, rehearsal-dinner coverage, or additional photography hours. We are super transparent with our pricing.
Do you offer payment plans? We're happy to work with couples on a comfortable payment schedule leading up to the wedding. The retainer reserves your date, with the balance spread out before the event. Reach out and we'll tailor a schedule that works for you.
How much is the retainer to book our date? The retainer is 30% of your collection, due at signing. It reserves your date exclusively for you - we only take a limited number of weddings each year, so the retainer is what holds your day.
Is the retainer refundable? The retainer reserves your date and the time we set aside for you, so it is non-refundable. We recommend reaching out directly to talk through your specific situation - we're reasonable people and always happy to discuss.
What payment methods do you accept? We're flexible. We accept bank transfer, Zelle, direct deposit, credit card, and check, and we're happy to discuss the method that works best for you.
Do you offer engagement sessions? Yes, and we love them. An engagement session is a wonderful way to get to know each other, see how we work, and get comfortable in front of our cameras before the big day. It also adds a beautiful lifestyle chapter to your story - we can shoot somewhere meaningful to you, like the beach, your favorite coffee shop, a city spot you love, or the place you first met. You can add it to a wedding collection or book it on its own.
Can we book you just for an engagement session? Absolutely. You don't have to book a wedding to work with us - we're happy to do a standalone engagement, couples, or portrait session.
How much is an engagement session? Pricing depends on location and length. Reach out and we'll put together a quote, or include it in your wedding proposal.
Do you offer albums and prints? Yes. Our albums are handcrafted by a top-of-the-line company that's highly selective about the photographers it works with - so your wedding lives in a genuine heirloom book, not a mass-produced one. Your gallery also comes with printing rights, so you can order any prints you love.
Do you offer discounts for off-season or weekday weddings? We build a custom proposal for every couple, so the best thing to do is reach out with your date and details. We'll tailor something that fits your day.
Do you photograph events other than weddings? Our specialty is weddings and the celebrations around them, including engagements, elopements, and intimate events. If you have something specific in mind, reach out and we'll let you know if it's a fit.
